We’re only able to support children and families thanks to the generosity of our supporters and funders – from trusts and corporate partners to marathon runners and cake bakers. Read below to find out where our income comes from and which individuals, companies and organisations have made especially significant contributions to our work.
Our charity income
The majority of our income comes from charitable trusts and foundations—such as UBS Optimus Foundation, St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation and Medicor Foundation, and corporate donors—such as RELX and Clifford Chance.
We also rely on the vital support of generous individuals who either donate directly or raise money for us through fundraising activities and events.
Our grant partners and funders.
In particular, we’d like to thank the following funders who provide significant support to our work. Because of their support, the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and families in the world are changing for the better.
Medicor Foundation
Medicor Foundation has been a significant partner since 2009, supporting our work in Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Bosnia. Together we've progressed national care reform, built the resilience of families and closed orphanage doors for good, reaching the point where in the whole of Bulgaria there are only now 3 left to close. In Moldova, we are working to build the capacity of foster care for children with disabilities, to demonstrate two best practice social service models and to get children from the one remaining orphanage in Northern Moldova back to family.
The Seneca Trust
The Seneca Trust is a key partner of Hope and Homes for Children in Rwanda and Romania and has been supporting our work since 2019. Their support is focused on closing institutions for children and adults with disabilities and developing alternative community-based services to support them. Their support in Bistrita County, Romania enabled the county to become institution-free, while in Rwanda, an exciting new community hub is being developed in Musanze District following the closure of an institution for people with disabilities in June 2025.
Oak Foundation
Oak Foundation have supported our work in Bulgaria, Romania and India. Our current partnership with Oak Foundation in India aims to accerlerate care reform in Jharkhand state, and build on the legacy of Oak Foundation's support to Hope and Homes for Children and our partner Children In Need Institute (CINI). Together we’ve supported 3,000+ children with a one stop shop of wholistic support in child friendly community owned centres. Our ambition is to take these initiatives to scale in other regions and ensure they're a blueprint for alternative care and family strengthening in Ukraine.

We've received a number of grants from The European Union in recent years. The European Union is currently co-funding our work in Ukraine (in partnership with Save the Children) and in Rwanda. UK Aid Match
We received two successive UK Aid Match grants (2015–2021). The first significantly advanced our work to end institutional care in Rwanda, contributing to an 80% reduction in the number of children in institutions. It also enabled regional partners to strengthen and promote community-based child protection. The second reached 135,255 children in Rwanda and Uganda, including those with disabilities, by showing how local services support families, prevent separation, and provide quality alternative care. In 2025, we secured a third grant to drive care reform across Africa.
